The situation in Kerala has worsened and the death count has reached up to 79. Around 2,406 villages in 14 districts were badly hit by rains and floods and; over 26,400 hectares of crops were damaged. The heavy rains have caused severe landslides and the opening of dam water which led Southern Railways, schools, colleges and Kochi Metro shut on high alert. The major concern for the people surviving there is the availability of drinking water although the Army's rescue team are doing their best. Moreover, 12 National Disaster Response Force [NDRF] teams are deployed in the state by the ministry and some celebs across India have come forward with their concern and financial support by funding Kerela CM's disaster relief fund.
Actors from down south Dulquer Salmaan, Nayanthara, Tamil star Vishal and many more have contributed with their financial support to the CM's relief fund as well.
While the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar shared the CMDRF fund official account number and tweeted ''Prayers are always good but in times of dire need and suffering we all can do more. Right now the victims and families of the #KeralaFloods need our help. Let’s show them that we #StandWithKerala. Even a small contribution to Kerala’s #CMDRF would go a long way.@CMOKerala.''
