Rajkumar Hirani directorial 'Sanju' is a biopic on Bollywood's bad boy Sanjay Dutt featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead and the film has easily managed to enter the 300 crore club on its 16th day. Without any festive release, the film has dominated the box-office and broke the record of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama 'Padmaavat'.
Sources confirm that Sanju has crossed the 500 crore mark in terms of the international box-office business. The film has a 30% occupancy rate across 2,000 screens in its third week of release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news with his tweet that read, "Non-holiday... Non-festival release... #Sanju crosses ₹ 300 cr mark... Now eyeing the *lifetime biz* of #BajrangiBhaijaan, #TigerZindaHai and #PK... Nett BOC... India biz... ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER."
This Ranbir Kapoor starrer joins 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai', both starring Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan's 'PK' (₹ 340 crore) and 'Dangal' (₹ 387 crore) in the ₹ 300 crore club. 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', sits pretty at the top with ₹ 510 crore in box-office collections.
Ranbir who never had a 100 cr film to his name jumps directly on to the 300 cr club and that's a stylish comeback after back to back flops. Although things may now slow down for 'Sanju' as Sandeep Singh biopic 'Soorma' and the Hollywood Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp was released this Friday.
