Niall Horan of British boy band One Direction greeted fans at an airport by calling them a "shower of c***s."
The pop superstar was captured on film by young ladies who shouted at him as he walked out of passport control.
British newspaper the Mirror reports that when the fans asked him to stop and take pictures with him, exhausted looking Niall wasn't keen on the idea.
"Remember the last time I walked down here? You shower of c***s," he said on a video posted on YouTube.
A viewer of the video considered Niall's statement to be a term of endearment.
"In Ireland 'shower of c***s' is used as 'a group of annoying people' but in a joking way. You say it all the time it really isn't offensive," a fan posted.
The original YouTube uploader also agreed.
"He's so nice, even though he called us a shower of c**** but hey. It was banter," the user shared.
One Direction's female fans have been compared to those who used to follow fellow British group the Beatles around.
The band has commented before on how their female fans can be a little overzealous at times.
