R.D. Burman, fondly called Pancham Da, was a legend who gave the Indian film industry a treasure trove of melodies. It is his 72nd birth annniversary and Fridaymoviez joins millions of other fans in remembering and praying for him.The man, whose music still reverberates through us and makes us tap our feet instantly, started his melodious journey with the movie 'Chote Nawab' in 1961. After this, there was no looking back.
One still hums and remembers his extraordinary musical works like Raat Kali (Buddha Mil Gaya), the sensual cabaret number Piya Tu Ab Toh Aaja (Caravan), the ultimate hippie anthem Dum Maro Dum (Hare Rama Hare Krishna) and the classical Raina Beeti Jaaye (Amar Prem). His music is so enchanting that many have attempted to bring it back into focus for e.g. the latest version of Dum Maro Dum; but nothing can be compared or improvised when it comes to Pancham Da's songs.
