Abhay Deol is all set to be a producer like his other contemporaries. The actor is known to do films that make an impact and has more content than a regular mass entertainer. He also promises that his films as a producer, would be high on quality content.

The first film he went on to produce was titled 'Basra'. However, that has been shelved due to some major financial crisis. The actor has now taken up another project that is a low budget one. Another addition to the story is that since he doesn't have big bucks to pay a popular A-lister, he himself will have to star in the film.

When asked about his decision to turn producer, the actor said that he needs to protect himself and so has taken this move to produce films on his own. Another reason being that his production house will be a good platform for filmmakers to make off-beat films too.
