Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' was in the midst of controversy as soon as actor Sonu Sood opted out of the project previously. Though Sood gave date issues as the primary reason; it was Kangana Ranaut who alleged Sood for opting out of the project as he refused to work under a woman director. However, the 45-year-old has worked with Farah Khan on 'Happy New Year' and there is no truth to these allegations.
Now it is the director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi who has decided to leave the project as some sources suggest that Kangana's interference by taking the most of director's seat all by herself. Krish is critically acclaimed director down south and know for his work in Telugu cinema and even delivered historical epics such as 'Gautamiputra Satakarni' and 'Kanche' and; so was chosen to direct 'Manikarnika' because of his portfolio.
However, it is not new for Kangana as these sorts of issues have earlier taken place with Hansal Mehta and Vishal Bhardwaj. It was revealed during the shoot of 'Rangoon', Ranaut decided to muscle her way into the writer and director's chair. Due to which, Bhardwaj discontinued the shooting and gave Kangana an ultimatum to stop interfering with his work, or he would shut down the film.
Furthermore, a source elaborated about the controversy and stated that Ranaut had no business of stepping into. The film is slated to release on 25th Jan 2019 and will clash with Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Cheat India' and Hrithik Roshan's 'Super 30'
