Many actors join hands with various philanthropist institutions to make films on social issues. Be it a commercial, documentary, short films or a public awareness film, many actors do it as a part of their social responsibility.
And the latest to join the glorious list is Akshay Kumar who is on the verge of signing a social film with Priyadarshan. The 'Hera Pheri' director who has worked with Akshay in many films has offered him to star in a film based on AIDS which he aims to showcase at international festival circuits.
"Akshay knows the subject. I have not given him the script yet. We may go with Akshay, and if not him, then newcomers will be roped in. Whatever I tell him he will do because of the rapport and great relation that we share," Priyadarshan said.
He had earlier offered the film to Aamir Khan, but due to unavailability of dates he might not do it and Priyan is more than happy to have Akshay on board.
However, he claims that the film is an art house flick and hence it is not quite a compulsion that he needs a big star for the same. "The problem is this film is art house type, not commercial. It is not a big budget film for the actors to get excited about. It is for international festivals. I am trying to get an entry for this film at Cannes, Berlin or Toronto film festivals," said Priyan.
