27th September 2010

September 27, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Recently, there was a buzz that the collaboration between filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and industrialist BK Modi has gone sour because of some losses in their joint project titled Buddha. However, Modi has declined any such news of fallout.

The movie in concern was put on hold in July 2010. It was supposed to deal with the life of Prince Siddhartha and his voyage to enlightenment.

It was alleged that the industrialist Modi was asking for the signing amount back from Gowariker. Now, Modi has reportedly said that the project is back on track and all is well between him and Gowariker.

Clarifying further his point, Modi was quoted saying that he is not all asking to get his money back from Ashutosh. He added that the director has assured him to start work on Buddha just after completing his current project Khelein he Hum Jee Jaan Sey (for PVR).

However, Modi accepted that he faced some problems regarding the project. The main problem faced by both the director and the producer is that they were unable to finalize someone to play Buddha.

Just after announcing their plan to make this biopic, the duo launched a website called Buddha-movie.com.

They used this platform to invite applications from the actors willing to play the divine protagonist. But they could not get the right person even after going through more than 6,000 photographs and videos. Modi was quoted saying that they are looking for an actor, who perfectly suits the role. He added that they want some established actor to play the role so that it becomes acceptable to the distributors. He has suffered a certain loss but expects to earn it when the film is made.

Hope the film starts rolling soon and they get a perfect face to essay Buddha!
