(Cover) - EN Star Style - Alyson Hannigan says she'd choose having "great hair" over doing her make-up.

The American actress, who is best known for her roles in movie franchise American Pie and the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, is mother to Satyana Marie Denisof with her husband Alexis Denisof.

Alyson says since becoming a mother two years ago, she has less time to get herself ready. However, the star has revealed that she focuses on her hair if it comes to deciding between wearing make-up or tending to her tresses.

"If you have to choose between doing your makeup or hair, choose [the latter]," she told People. "If you have great hair, you can wear sweatpants and still look chic."

Alyson says being a mom comes with unexpected beauty perks. The Hollywood star, who is famed for her fiery tresses, has joked that her tot's diaper cream also doubles up as a rather nice skin product.

"I've had some success with diaper cream as a newfound beauty tool - by accident, of course," she said. "It turns out it's actually a fairly nice hand moisturiser."

Alyson has revealed she hasn't escaped dreaded red carpet style mishaps. The pretty star says she often tries to look "trendy" but fails miserably.

"I've had many and I hope I don't have many more, but I will," she says of her wardrobe mishaps. "I've had a terrible faux pas of wearing a dress backward, which was supposed to look trendy, but it just did not work." (C) Cover Media
