Amitabh Bachchan is now the WHO Goodwill ambassador for Hepatitis

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of many campaigns which are carried out for the welfare of the society by the Government. Keeping in mind the actor’s concern towards Hepatitis, he is now declared as the WHO Goodwill ambassador for Hepatitis for the South East Asia region.

He announced the news on twitter by tweeting, "T 2422 - Humbled and honoured to be made the Goodwill Ambassador for Hepatitis for South-East Asia .. may we succeed as in Polio" and "T 2422 - As one who worked for the Polio Free India campaign .. hope we can bring the same results for Hepatitis in India .."

A leading daily quoted the Regional Director of WHO saying as, "This association is expected to help strengthen WHO's efforts in reducing the high numbers of premature deaths and illnesses from viral Hepatitis which is not only causing hardships to individuals and families, but also impacting health and development across the region."
