Ashton Kutcher: Leaving home was big decision

17th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ashton Kutcher's father thought he was "making a mistake" when he moved to New York to be a model.

The American actor grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The 33-year-old moved to the big lights of New York City to pursue a career in fashion and the star says his family were initially unimpressed.

"The biggest move I made in life was when I decided to move to New York to work as a model. My father thought I was out of my mind even though he didn't say that, but I knew that he believed I was making a mistake," he told OK! magazine.

Ashton has since carved a successful career in Hollywood.

He recently replaced Charlie Sheen in hit TV show Two and a Half Men and has appeared in numerous successful films, including The Butterfly Effect and No Strings Attached.

Ashton says life is all about pushing the boundaries.

"I somehow had this feeling that you have to take chances in life if you want to aspire to greater things," he said.

"I really believe that if you go out and try to make something happen, you're going to put yourself in the position and succeed. It won't happen if you just sit back and play it safe." (C) Cover Media
