Ashton Kutcher: Romance is personal

21st February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ashton Kutcher has compared romance to a desert island.

The 33-year-old hunk has been married to actress Demi Moore since 2005 and has previously spoken about how much work goes into a relationship. Ashton is more in love with his wife than ever and always puts her first when he is making decisions.

The actor says it takes more than lavish gifts and surprises to sustain a relationship, adding that being aware of your partners feelings is the key to happiness.

Romance is personal, its usually not some grand gesture, he told Cover Media. Its usually something thats very, very simple but very, very personal and romance is sort of an island right next to care and when you care about someone and you listen to someone you hear them, you can feel them, you know just whats right and generally its something that will be very unimpressive to a room full of strangers.

Ashton and Demi sparked surprise when they first began dating as the actress is 15 years older than him. Despite the initial scepticism, the couple went on to get married and are still going strong.

The hunk says he always tries to think of ways to make Demi feel special. Even though the developments in modern technology make it easier to communicate with people now, he thinks old fashioned gestures are still the most effective.

The fear of public humiliation is what we really fear, and so were fearing a rejection - face to face rejection - and so well say things and do things in a text or email that we would never do face to face and so relationships are coming together faster, breaking apart faster and theyre a little bit more disposable, he explained. At the same time I think that creates great opportunity because I think a hand written letter to someone probably means more today than its meant in quite some time so theres opportunities for romance that are being created.

Ashtons latest big screen outing is alongside Natalie Portman in romantic comedy No Strings Attached. The movie is released in the UK on February 25. (C) Cover Media
