Ayushmann to croon Ghalib's poem

13th March 2014

Bollywood's next generation star Ayushmann Khurrana made a successful transition from theatre to television and now films.

However, his debut was not a regular one as he not only made his debut as an actor, but also as a singer and composer. He swept everyone off their feet as he crooned his way out to people's heart with his songs like 'Paani Da Rang' and 'Saddi Galli' in his initial films 'Vicky Donor' and 'Nautanki Saala' respectively.

And now the actor cum singer-composer is all set to croon yet again in his next film.

The period film set in mid 1800's has Ayushmann playing a scientist. As the film is set in an era when Poet Mirza Ghalib was at the peak of his popularity, Ayushmann thought that it would be apt for the film to have one of his famous poetries as a song in the film. He discussed the idea with film's director Vibhu Puri who instantly gave his consent.

Ayushmann has chosen Ghalib's famous poetry 'Dil-e-Naadaan' for the adaptation. He will be composing the tunes and singing it too. The song will retain Ghalib's charm but will also hold modern tunes.

It remains to be seen how this modern day music star holds on to the magic of Ghalib's words.
