(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Beyonc Knowles surprised kids in Harlem with a visit, leaving one five-year-old so enamoured he hopes to arrange a playdate with her.

The singing sensation sent some of her dancers to visit 150 children from local youth groups in the New York district on Thursday. The youngsters were thrilled to learn some of their idol's signature moves, and were blown away when Beyonc herself then turned up on stage.

"She makes me dance, and she makes me feel like having a playdate with her," five-year-old Milan Perdomo told CBS New York.

Beyonc took time to talk to the group and give them a hug, before they showed off what they'd learnt from her dancers. Many of the children cried as they were so overwhelmed, but Beyonc soon put them at ease.

The 29-year-old star has just released her latest album 4, and a show about its creation was aired on MTV last night. Beyonc: Year of 4 included footage of the singer talking about the record's inception, including opening scenes of her swimming.

"I'm always happy when I'm surrounded by water," she said. "I think I'm a mermaid or I was a mermaid. The ocean makes me feel really small, and it puts my whole life into perspective... It humbles you and it grounds you and it makes me feel almost like I've been baptized. Am I the same Beyonc? Absolutely not."

He star's last album I Am... Sasha Fierce was released in 2008 and she made a conscious decision to take time out afterwards. She wanted to spend time with her husband Jay-Z and the rest of her family. She also decided to split from her manager father Mathew Knowles.

"A real change meant separating from him," she explained. "It was scary, but it empowered me, and I wasn't going to let fear stop me.

"I am a workaholic, and I don't believe in 'no'. If I'm not sleeping, nobody's sleeping." (C) Cover Media
