(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Billy Ray Cyrus has admitted he could have been a better father to his daughter Miley.

The country music star also says he has had a change of heart since his outspoken magazine interview last December, in which he blamed daughter Mileys hit show Hannah Montana for destroying his family.

The singer revealed during an interview for television show Good Morning America on Wednesday that his messy home life was to blame for his problems with his wife Tish and troubled family life. He confesses he could have spent more time helping Miley and has tried to clarify the comments he made about Mileys involvement with the popular Disney television show.

"What I meant to say, and what I hope I said was fame can be a dangerous animal. And it's a delicate thing, Billy explained.

"I did kind of approach being a dad as a friend. I mean, for teaching [my children] how to camp and build fires and ride motorcycles and four-wheelers, and horses, and all those fun kind of things.

"As far as sitting down and doing algebra and science, the homework, I wasn't very good at that. So I look back on it and think, 'You know what? Maybe, no doubt, I could have been a better dad.' "

The 49-year-old added that he was "surrounded in darkness when he gave the now infamous interview, in which he said that he felt that Hannah Montana - which made 18-year-old Miley an international star - pushed him out of her life.

Billy Ray who recently announced he and Tish have dropped their plans to divorce - insists that he wouldnt change anything and he loves Disney.

He is said to be spending more time with his actress daughter in a bid to improve their strained relationship (C) Cover Media
