(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Bobby Brown says he performed on the night Whitney Houston died because she would have wanted him to.

The R&B star was in Mississippi when he was told his 48-year-old ex-wife had passed away in Los Angeles on February 11. He was due to perform on stage and the show went ahead, much to some people's disbelief.

Bobby has defended the decision.

"I was in Mississippi performing and I got the call. Of course, I tried to get a flight. Tried to rent a jet. Whatever I had to do but it was impossible," he told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

"So I knew the best thing that she would want me to do was perform. You know, we are performers. That's what we did. That's what we do and she would want the best for me."

Bobby attended Whitney's funeral, which was held in Newark, New Jersey. He didn't stay for the whole service though, with claims he was disappointed there weren't seats available for some of his entourage.

The 43-year-old star is now focusing on the positive memories he has of Whitney, who he was married to between 1992 and 2007 and has 19-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina with.

"[I'll miss] her voice," he said. "I mean we get to hear it every day but just to see her sing was amazing. Where she came from with it, was amazing. That's what I'm going to miss" (C) Cover Media
