Brad Pitt: Aniston reports upset me

16th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Brad Pitt has clarified comments about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston, revealing he feels "grieved" with how they were interpreted.

The actor gave an interview to Parade magazine in which he was quoted as saying he tried "to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't". The claims caused shock among many, but Brad has now come forward to rectify the matter.

He insists he would never blame Jennifer for the breakdown of their marriage.

"It grieves me that this was interpreted this way," he said in a statement. "Jen is an incredibly giving, loving, and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself - and that, I am responsible for."

Brad began dating Jennifer in 1998, with the pair tying the knot in 2000. However, they divorced in October 2005.

During the interview with Parade, Brad admitted that during the 90s he was deeply unhappy. Even though he appeared to have a successful career and love life, he felt unfulfilled.

"I spent the 90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony," Brad said. "I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic.

"It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself."

Jennifer is now dating Justin Theroux, while Brad raises six children with Angelina Jolie.

Even though it has become more difficult to juggle his career and private life, Brad also revealed he has no regrets.

"A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss That's the trade-off. But I'll take it all," he added. (C) Cover Media
