Brigitte Nielsen discusses Schwarzenegger romance

3rd June 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Brigitte Nielsen has blamed Arnold Schwarzenegger for not discussing Maria Shriver when they enjoyed a romance in the 80s.

Brigitte and movie star/former Governor of California Arnold appeared in action film Red Sonja together back in 1985 and indulged in a brief relationship during filming before Arnold wed journalist Maria Shriver.

Arnold and Maria recently called time on their 25-year marriage, as last month he confessed to fathering a love child more than ten years ago.

Brigitte has been reflective of her time with Arnold, explaining that she never heard him talking about Maria when they were together.

"How serious it was with her, I don't know," she is quoted as saying in British newspaper The Daily Mail.

"He never spoke about her and the way he was living his life with me, I felt I was the only one. Then I realised about him and Maria and, wow, I felt cheated. Maybe I wouldn't have got into it if he said, I'm going to marry Maria and this is dead serious', but he didn't, and our affair carried on."

Brigitte also spoke in support of Maria, who has four kids with Arnold; Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. She's shocked that Arnold believed he would ever be able to keep his love child secret.

"It breaks my heart because he and Maria have four kids and you don't just have a baby with someone else. I'm surprised Arnold thought he could get away with it and I feel bad for Maria," she added.

The star, who is promoting her autobiography You Only Get One Life, has recalled how passionate her romance with Arnold was. She admits the relationship had no limits "since we both knew that wouldn't last beyond the movie".

"We wanted to try everything and so we did. There were no restrictions, no promises, nothing, and it was a great time in my life," she smiled. (C) Cover Media
