(Cover) - EN Movies - Bryan Cranston says films these days are shorter because of "society's attention span".

The 55-year-old American actor has recalled his childhood and how feature films were longer because of people's ability to concentrate more.

Bryan, who is best known for his role as Walter White in AMC drama series Breaking Bad, appeared in The Lincoln Lawyer opposite Matthew McConaughey this year. The star played Detective Lankford in the thriller and understands why his part was cut down so much.

"My role was cut down in The Lincoln Lawyer and understandably. I get it. You have to have the length of the movie appropriately long to tell your story, but you don't want it too long and there are some places where you can trim it," he explained in an interview with Collider. "This is a result from our society's attention span. It truly is. We continue to increase our low sense of patience. We want it now, now, now! The same is true in filmmaking that we are appealing to a modern audience. When I was a kid movies were always double billed. You would always go see two movies. Can you imagine doing that now?"

Bryan says he was tempted to star in the film after reading the script. The actor can always tell whether a film will be successful or not depending on how well written the script is.

"You know, it always starts with a script. I read the script and I liked the script. When something is well written it has a chance to be good. It doesn't mean it will be, but it has a chance. If it is not well written it won't be good. It could be popular, but it won't be good in my estimation. So with that in mind I was asked to take a look at it and I did," he added. (C) Cover Media
