CBI demands screening of 'Special 26'

2nd February 2013

Just recently Muslim leaders dragged superstar Kamal Haasan's film 'Vishwaroop' to court over their perception that the film showed the Muslim community in bad light.

Though the film was cleared for release, filmmaker-actor Kamal Haasan had to delete scenes which were pinned as objectionable by the court and Muslim leaders. And in order to avoid similar controversies, India's premier law enforcement agency – Central Bureau of Investigation has demanded a special screening of the film 'Special 26' that is based on the real life incidents from the era of 1980's.

The film is based on the series of crime incidents where cons as fake CBI officers carry out loots.

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film has Akshay Kumar as a fake officer, while Manoj Bajpai plays the real one on the reel screen.

As the film is about the functioning and controversies surrounding CBI, the agency wants to make sure that they are not shown in bad light. Hence, they have asked the makers to arrange for a special screening of the film.

In the wake of Kamal Haasan's controversy, the makers might not hesitate to arrange for a screening to avoid hassles around the release.

As they say - 'Prevention is better than Cure'
