Monday turned out to be a momentous day for fans and supporters of Chiranjeevi and for the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh, with formalities related to the merger of Praja Rajyam Party getting completed on the day.
“I had said on an earlier occasion that we will protect the government. Such a situation prevails today. We are responsible for the stability of this government. May be for this reason, Sonia Gandhiji sought a merger of Praja Rajyam with Congress. This shows her farsightedness and vision. Nothing can be done to this government,” Chiranjeevi said.
He was speaking at a function in Gandhi Bhavan, the State Congress headquarters, where the Praja Rajyam MLAs and other party leaders formally joined the ruling party.
There was a grand celebration at the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters 'Gandhi Bhavan' to commemorate the occasion with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and a host of party leaders in attendance to welcome the 'star of the day' Chiranjeevi and his group of members of legislative assembly into their fold.
