Censor Board obligates Cheat India's Tagline

13th December 2018

Emraan Hashmi starrer 'Cheat India' which is based on the Educational scam of the country is certainly in trouble with the film's tagline. 'Nakal Mein Hi Akal Hai' that's a catchy one but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has firmly objected it as it promotes cheating in the examination.

Media reports state that the committee that viewed the teaser of the film had no apprehensions about the tagline, when the board viewed the trailer felt it gave out a wrong message and may mislead youngsters. Therefore, they decided the film must remove the tagline which makes unsuitable for television and theatres. Meanwhile, Tanuj Garg, one of the producers on the film, confirmed the development to the publication. He also clarified that the dialogue does not feature in the film, although there is a variation of the line spoke by Hashmi.

Speaking about the film earlier, Emraan spoke to a leading daily, "The script and title of Cheat India are supremely powerful. This is among the most engaging and riveting stories I’ve read in a while and I am thrilled to be essaying what I believe will be a landmark role in my filmography."

The film has also been granted a U/A certificate and the makers will abort the film's tagline from the posters and the film as well. Produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, Garg and Atul Kasbekar's Ellipsis Entertainment, and Emraan Hashmi Films, Cheat India is scheduled to release on 25th January 2019.
