(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chad Kroeger "can't wait" to start married life with Avril Lavigne.

The Nickelback rocker proposed to Avril with a 14-carat diamond ring last month. The pair had known each other for some time, but only began dating on July 1 which is a special date for the Canadian stars.

"We think it's very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day," he told People. "We can't wait to start our life together."

Chad and Avril's engagement sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. While some people fear they might be rushing into marriage, 37-year-old Chad insists the timing was right for them.

"I try not to take too much interest in the world's opinion of our relationship. I just know the both of us are very happy," he added.

Nickelback will soon be embarking on a tour around Europe. However, Chad revealed Avril, 27, will be travelling to see him whenever she has a break in her schedule.

"She'll come over and spend some time [with me] when she's got time," he added. "They're going to throw a lot of stuff on her plate with the new record." (C) Cover Media
