(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chaz Bono is said to be resisting attempts to get him to perform to a Cher song on Dancing with the Stars.

Chaz is taking part in the current season of the American reality contest. His inclusion has been a hotly debated topic as he was born a girl, then completed gender reassignment surgery.

Chaz's mother is singer Cher and show bosses are said to be keen for him to perform a routine to one of her songs.

"Chaz is flatly refusing pleading producers who keep pushing him to perform at least once to a song by Cher," reports National Enquirer.

Behind-the-scenes staff are also said to be hopeful that superstar singer Cher will come to see her son perform at some point over the course of the show.

They believe seeing her there would be a "ratings grabber" although it's unknown whether she is planning to attend.

The singer is very proud of her son, especially as he's taking part in the show despite criticism. When it was announced he was in the line-up many said it wasn't right for a transgender person to be dancing, so Cher took to Twitter to fight for her son.

"This is Still America right? It took guts 2 do it," she wrote.
