Cheryl Cole: I'm no Mariah Carey

12th June 2012

Cheryl Cole says she's very "aware" of the limitations of her singing voice.

The Call My Name singer came under fire recently after some fans thought she mimed her way though her duet with Gary Barlow at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert in London.

But the brunette beauty says that she's "happy" if people think she's not singing live because it means she sounds good.

"I am very aware of my ability," Cheryl told Britain's The Sun newspaper. "I know I'm no Mariah Carey but I think the emotion in the song is what matters."

"It's making people feel what you're singing about.

"My new album is designed to entertain and I know when I take to the stage and I see a million little lights it really is game time."

But Cheryl, who counts Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am as one of her mentors, says that she has "grown as a person and an artist."

"I have had two number one albums so I feel I know what I'm doing," she maintained. "I fit into my own shoes now and I'm simply not worried anymore."

Cheryl has bounced back after being dropped as a judge from The X Factor USA by Simon Cowell last year.
