Chitra Samooha honored winners

1st June 2011
The like-minded group of offbeat and art film makers Chitra Samooha headed by Dr. Girish Kasaravalli found partial success in 'Chitra Varsha' – to make a platform for quality and award films. The valedictory function of it coincided with the felicitation of national and state award winners at GM Rejoyz in Bengaluru.

Dr. Girish Kasaravalli was perturbed with the audience attendance falling down even for 'Chitra Varsha' in his address. There is no economic satisfaction but there is no dearth for offbeat thinkers. 2008-2009 state wards have four newcomers, he pointed. The evolution of 'Chitra Samooha' is only to safeguard the quality films, he mentioned in his address.

The National film awards winners – 'Bettada Jeeva', 'Hejjegalu', 'Puttakkana High Way', film critic Manu Chakravarthy, state award winners – 'Kabbaddi', 'Josh', 'Shankara Punyakoti', 'Mukhaputa' and 'Chaitanya' winners were felicitated on this occasion.

Manu Chakravarthy on behalf of the recipients of awards said that there is cultural strength in the cinema just like in books. “This has to be deeply identified. This is what I am doing,” he pointed out seriously.
