The Avengers Assemble actor's wife Elsa Pataky welcomed their daughter into the world yesterday.

According to Us Weekly, the new arrival is called India and was born in London, UK.

Website chris-hemsworth.net reports the tot has the middle name Rose, with both mother and baby said to be doing well.

No further details about the birth are currently available.

Chris, 28 and Elsa, 35, married December 2010 and it was announced they were expecting their first child in January.

Spanish actress Elsa has spoken about how excited she was to be having a baby. She explained it was one of the reasons she and Chris tied the knot.

"Starting a family is an even bigger commitment for me than getting married, because children involve you with the other person for the rest of your life and so you have to be sure," she said.
