Christina Hendricks: Mad Men is worth the wait

16th November 2011

Christina Hendricks insists the wait for the new season of Mad Men will "be worth it".

The stunning actress plays office bombshell Joan Holloway in the hit ABC drama, which is set in 1960s New York. Season five is set to premiere in March 2012.

Christina says fans won't be disappointed by the new storylines.

"I know it's been a little bit of a wait, but it will be worth it," she assured in an interview with Access Hollywood. "We're already shooting our tenth episode."

Christina's character Joan was left in a dilemma at the end of last season. She found out she was pregnant, but was unsure who the father was.

Christina is remaining tight-lipped about the controversial storyline.

"It wouldn't be fun if I told you, you gotta wait!" she smiled. "There's some really great storytelling. You'll have to wait and see."

Christina's co-star Jon Hamm will be directing some of the episodes in season 5. Christina was impressed with the actor's skills behind the camera.

"He's natural," she said. "John Slattery has also directed a couple episodes. They know the story so well and they know us so well and their notes are fun. It's very, very easy to work with them. They're really great at it."

Christina is also promoting another new venture. The red-headed beauty is featured in video game Need for Speed: The Run.

"My husband Geoffrey Arend is a huge video game player," she explained.

"I had to enter his world! It's like, I'm going to be in the video game, you won't be able to get away from me!'"

Meanwhile, the show's creator Matthew Weiner has put an end to speculation that Jon's character Don Draper will be killed off at the end of the show.

Matthew has already plotted the future for Don, and it involves him living to an old age.

"I do know how the whole show will end and it doesn't mean Don's gonna die," he revealed. "How I hope to end the show is, like, it's 2011 and Don is 84."

Matthew also explained there will be two further series after season five has aired.
