Tom Cruise actively restricting daughter Suri from visiting Katie Holmes family is reportedly "a gross lie."

The 50-year-old actor and 33-year-old actress Katie split earlier this year, with the pair settling the terms of their divorce in under two weeks.

Katie and Suri spent a few days in the actress's hometown of Toledo, Ohio recently where her parents Martin and Kathy Holmes still reside.

Contrary to some reports that Suri met her cousins for the first time during this visit, a source reveals that Tom never had a problem with Katie's clan.

"Katie visited Ohio with Suri many times," a source told People magazine.

"To say Tom prevented anything is a gross lie. He not only didn't prevent [Suri having a relationship with Holmes' family] but encouraged it and paid for it! The first several birthday parties Katie and Tom threw for Suri had the family and cousins come to town all expenses were paid for by Tom. Her entire family spent at least two Christmases with Tom and Katie in Telluride. [He] also invited the family cousins included to New Orleans this past [spring] for the Final Four."
