Dannii Minogue: Dresses should hug the body

6th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Dannii Minogue says the perfect little black dress can feel like a gentle hug from a strong man.

The Australian singer, who is a judge on the UK talent show The X Factor, designs clothes alongside Tabitha Somerset Webb for her successful fashion range Project D.

She is very fashion conscious and believes all women ought to treat themselves to a comfortable and swanky traditional outfit even if they are short of money.

The dress should feel good. It can be delicate, yet softly structured, like a gentle hug from a strong man. If youre strapped for cash, asos.com have many a tribute to the LBD, or hire one, Dannii told the British edition of Glamour magazine.

The 39-year-old is careful to pick out items that compliment her figure. And she relies on some well-known labels.

I always go for something that suits my shape and harks back to old-fashioned movie glamour, and Dolce & Gabbana never fail, Danni explained. They understand a womans curves and how to make them even more womanly, if that is possible.

Now she is revered for a stunning look, yet the singer admits this is something that has taken time to perfect. Dannii thinks that, while some trends will always work, others are more hit and miss. She cited fashions from different eras that do not pass the test of time.

There are certain items that never go out of fashion because they are classics. Its taken me a long time to figure out what works for me; theres nothing like age to help you work it out! she said. You can have an idea of what works for you, but trial and error is the real test. Something that looks chic in the 80s might not translate to the 90s, 00s or beyond. The classics are items that work against trends, but funnily enough, are always trendy. (C) Cover Media
