The Pattali Makkal Katchi led by Dr S Ramadoss had in the past targeted many film stars, including superstar Rajinikanth. And now, Dhanush has become the target of the political organization.
In a statement, Ramadoss's son and former Union Health Minister Dr S Anbumani Ramadoss has expressed regret at Dhanush smoking in some scenes in the recently released 'Mayakkam Enna', directed by the national award winning actor's brother Selvaraghavan.
'The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Rules 2011, which came into effect from November 14, made it mandatory for the actors who smoke on screen to give a disclaimer regarding the ill-effects of such products in the beginning and halfway through the film,' he said.
Anbumani added: 'Films released after the rules came into force failed to comply with the order. In the recently released 'Mayakkam Enna', there are many smoking scenes. The Union and State governments should ensure that the rules are followed and implemented effectively.'
