Filmmaker David Dhawan's younger son Varun Dhawan has made a thrilling debut with Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year' that was released in 2012. The success of the film brought him under the spotlight for his looks, chiseled body and the capability of being a great actor.
This was seen by producer Ekta Kapoor who has signed Varun to play the lead in her next production. Varun will star in the Hindi remake of a Telugu blockbuster, the rights of the film were bought for a whopping 2 crores. The name of the film has not yet been revealed.
The cherry on the cake is the fact that she has signed Varun's father, David Dhawan to direct the film. Talking about Varun, Ekta confesses that he is a very good star.
"Varun is somewhat like a young Salman Khan. He is a good actor and a good performer. In their leading days, stars like Aamir Khan and Salman were highly famous amongst teens. And I can see that happening with Varun too. He has an immense fan following amongst the youth. According to me he will be a superstar in the coming years," said Ekta. On the other hand David is also happy to work with his own son.
In the meanwhile, the team is yet to look for the leading lady and the other cast for their film.
