(Cover) - EN Showbiz - A tour and auction of Dame Elizabeth Taylor's best-loved possessions will evoke her "unique spirit".
The Hollywood icon passed away from congestive heart failure back in March, after suffering from ill health for a long time.
Now fans will be able to gain a closer insight into the life of the screen legend, who died at the age of 79, as prestigious auction house Christie's is preparing a worldwide tour and auction of her personal items. According to Marc Porter, chairman and president of Christie's Americas, the items are particularly intimate.
"This collection of her many cherished possessions will bring us closer to the essence of Elizabeth Taylor's unique spirit, and promises to inspire admiration, delight, and at times, sheer wonder, in all who come to see it," he is quoted as saying by People.
The auction house will be displaying Elizabeth's most adored jewellery, clothes and decorative arts items in the three-month international tour which kicks off this September. It is scheduled to finish in New York this December, with a ten-day exhibition at Christie's Rockefeller Center gallery. There will then be four days of auctions from December 13 16. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, which the late actress founded in 1993 to provide support for sufferers of HIV and AIDS.
Marc added that the tour and auction will offer "a window into the world of a true icon, a rare woman who was at once an international film and fashion star, loving mother, successful businesswoman, and generous humanitarian". (C) Cover Media
