(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John and David Furnish have reportedly decided against giving their son celebrity godparents.
The 63-year-old singer and his 48-year-old partner David welcomed their first child together on Christmas day in California a son named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John. The baby was conceived via surrogate, with Elton and David planning to keep the childs mother out of the spotlight.
Since Zacharys birth was announced there has been much speculation about who the couple would choose to be his godparents. Elton is godfather to several children including Elizabeth Hurleys eight-year-old son Damian and Victoria and David Beckhams kids Brooklyn, 11, and eight-year-old Romeo, so it had been thought he might pick a famous pal to return the favour.
However, he is said to have decided to ask his close friends Ingrid Sischy and her partner Sandy Brant instead.
Elton could have picked anyone from the world of showbusiness to be godparents but he chose a couple of dear friends who will take their role seriously, a source told British newspaper The Mail on Sunday.
Ingrid and Sandy are two of the most genuine people they know. They were among a handful of people Elton entrusted with the details of the surrogate pregnancy.
Zachary means everything to Elton and David and they have chosen Ingrid and Sandy as godmothers for the traditional reason: to take care of the childs welfare in case something happens to them.
It remains unknown whether Elton and David will ask other friends or family members to be godparents too.
Ingrid was asked about Zachary as she arrived at her New York home yesterday, but insisted the matter was private. (C) Cover Media
