Elton John misses son at party

28th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John wished he could sneak away from his star-studded Oscars party yesterday, to go and tuck his two-month-old son into bed.

The iconic singer holds the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party annually, to raise money for his Elton John AIDS Foundation. This year it took place at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, and Elton and his partner David Furnish were both upset about leaving their new son Zachary at home.

I wish we could but we can't, he might be coming down to visit us and say goodnight," Elton laughed.

The event is one of the glitziest in the showbiz calendar, and this year was no exception. Elton sang with Florence Welch from band Florence and the Machine, who looked stunning in a long blush dress which was overlaid with black netting.

She's amazing, a great girl, so full of life. I love her, she's such a great singer and I'm mesmerised by her, Elton said of Florence.

Other guests included Kelly Osborne and her mother Sharon, Matthew Morrison and his Glee co-stars Dianna Agron and Chris Colfer, as well as Claire Danes and Baz Luhrmann.

Hayden Panettiere and Chace Crawford also attended the bash, which featured a mirrored floor and yellow love seats.

Kim Kardashian looked stunning in a figure-hugging black dress, while Nicole Richie opted for a white, long-sleeved gown with a cutaway on her stomach.

British glamour model Katie Price also known as Jordan put in an appearance, but shunned the usual formal gown. Instead, she chose a short, black dress with a puffy skirt and plunging neckline.

Elton discussed his reasons for raising awareness of AIDS, explaining he thinks its particularly vital in America. The 63-year-old worries education about the topic is overlooked in the US, and wants to change that.

We still find the stigma of AIDS exists, the shame, the marginalisation of people that have AIDS," he said. "It's really disturbing. It's very hard to teach sex education to young people in this country because it's a very conservative country." (C) Cover Media
