(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John is planning to stage a concert to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The British singer reportedly hopes to hold the event in the English capital during the Olympics next summer. It is rumoured he wants rockers Muse to join him on the bill.

"Elton has never put on subtle live shows but he wants the Olympic gig to be even more overblown and spectacular than ever," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"He's been a huge fan of Matt Bellamy's band for years and is desperate to collaborate with them.

"A show during the London Olympics will be the ideal opportunity. And with Muse's reputation as one of the best live groups in the world it's bound to be special."

Elton isn't the only musical superstar who will be celebrating the Olympic Games next year.

Sir Paul McCartney is expected to be involved with either the opening or closing ceremony, with rumours circulating he will reunite with his Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.

Organisers are also reportedly keen for The Rolling Stones and a reformed Led Zeppelin to perform.

Other acts rumoured to be playing at the London 2012 Olympic Games include the Spice Girls. (C) Cover Media
