Emergency meeting called by Producers Council

23rd January 2012

The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has convened for an emergency meeting later today 23rd January, to discuss the pay revision of employees which was 'unanimously announced' by the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).

To ensure that all members take part in the crucial meeting, the Producers Council has announced that there would be no shootings today.

In a statement, the TFPC said, 'FEFSI has announced its decision without consulting the TFPC. This has shocked many producers. For several years, any decision on such issues has been taken after consultations and dialogues.'

The statement added: 'While pay revision was decided once in three years after consultations between TFPC and FEFSI, the latter had gone ahead with announcing a 'unilateral' scale this time, insisting the new structure should come into effect immediately.'
