Eminem needs darkness to doze'

9th May 2012

Eminem reportedly asks for hotel windows to be covered in aluminium foil to help him sleep.

The hip-hop star regularly jets around the world and sometimes finds he can't doze off.

He's come up with a routine which helps him rest, but means no light is allowed into the room he's sleeping in.

The 39-year-old also needs some sound in the room to help him relax.

"The noise and darkness gets Eminem the best night's sleep," a source told British newspaper The Sun.

"He uses the technique as he's always jumping time-zones."

It's not known when the rapper discovered the technique aided his rest, or if he indulges in the same practices when he is at home.

Eminem isn't the only music superstar who likes to block out light when he is snoozing.

Guns N' Roses star Axl Rose is said to have asked hotel staff for blackout blinds after a night of partying in Miami earlier this year.

"When he was escorted upstairs, he asked that the floor-to-ceiling windows in his penthouse be completely blacked out, so he could sleep better," a source said at the time.

Sir Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones is also thought to have asked for all natural light to be blocked out of rooms he stays in.

"We had to go and find some tape to make sure it was dark," a source once said.
