Emma Watson: I am a reliable friend

17th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emma Watson thinks shes a good friend because she always looks after her pals when they are too drunk.

The star has grown up on camera, thanks to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies. Now the final one has wrapped she is enjoying being a student at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, America.

Emma has worked hard to carve out a normal life for herself while studying as she doesnt want to be treated differently, and has a select group of friends she can rely on. They take care of her and are very protective, and Emma ensures she returns the favour.

If youre having a really bad day or in a sticky situation, Im probably the one to call. I like taking care of people. Im usually the person looking after someone whos drunk, she laughed.

The star is 20, so cant legally drink alcohol in the States as you have to be 21. Although the limit is 18 in the UK she admits she is still careful about partying, as she doesnt want to send out the wrong impression. Its not too hard for her as she prefers strutting her stuff on the dancefloor to propping up the bar anyway.

When Im in the UK I can drink but I dont have the freedom to have whatever I want or do whatever I want, not in public anyway, she told Stylist magazine. Maybe in a really private setting with people you can really trust. But I do have to be careful.

Emma added she finds it easier in America, as once people have met her they quickly lose interest in her celebrity status. In other countries she constantly feels as if people are expecting her to slip up, or waiting for her to make some kind of diva demand. She used to ensure she was overly polite to prove them wrong, but has now stopped worrying about it so much.

The scrutiny is so intense, I do find that quite hard. But there comes a point, and I realise this now, where Ive got to stop being so apologetic, she said. I have had an unusual life and I am famous and I have done this I cant pretend to be someone Im not. (C) Cover Media
