Emma Watson needed strong' hair

13th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Emma Watson's hair stylists have revealed that they wanted a "stronger look" for the actress after she debuted longer, darker locks recently.

The stylish star boasted newly dyed, and more lengthy tresses at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Emma, who famously chopped off her waist-skimming hair in favour of a cute pixie crop last year, stepped out with a straightened brunette do at the red-carpet event.

Rodney Cutler, founder of Cutler Salons, and Ben Stewart, Cutler's colour director have revealed the reasoning behind her new tresses.

"Our objective was to add a little bit of length and to have a strong silhouette and chic outline. We wanted to move away from her former blonde highlighted look into something a little bit stronger with increased depth and richness," Rodney told People magazine.

"The wonderful thing about this is that the shape is so defined and always looks great flat, curly, or just layered with products, it always retains its look."

Ben says the darker hues were chosen to compliment the cut. The hair expert thinks the brunette shades added some depth to Emma's hair.

"After being quite lighter in the hair colour, this would be a perfect blend with this new hair cut. We decided on this rich golden brown with soft honey tones moving throughout to create some reflection and dimension," he explained.

Rodney is unsure as to whether Emma will keep the look. The stylist insists that because the stunning star is such a style icon, she is likely to change her look on a regular basis.

"It looks great at the moment, so we will have to wait and see," he says. "She's such a fashion [and] style icon, you never know what's around the corner." (C) Cover Media
