Emmy Rossum slams naked stigma

22nd July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emmy Rossum believes there is a "stupid stigma" attached to filming nude scenes.

The 24-year-old actress plays Fiona Gallagher in the hit US television series Shameless and in the first season her character stripped off several times. Emmy insists she has no problem flashing her flesh and doesn't understand why such a fuss has been made about her topless scenes.

"There's a stupid stigma about it," Emmy said at the Comic-Con convention in California. "It's just a body, it isn't anything. It doesn't say who you are inside. I think I revealed way more on this show in scenes where I got to be unattractive and lonely than I ever did in a scene where I was having sex with my boyfriend. People are all a tizzy about it."

Production on the second season of Shameless, which follows a dysfunction family, has already started and the show is due to return to screens next year.

Emmy's co-star William H. Macy plays irresponsible, alcoholic father of six Frank Gallagher in the programme. He relishes the challenge and is thrilled to be reprising his role for a second series.

"It's a joy to come back to this and get to be with this character and these cast members again," he said. "I'm just in love with this job. It's the greatest fun I ever had." (C) Cover Media
