Jaya Bachchan terming 'Happy New Year' a non-sensical flick created quite a stir in the industry. Post Amitabh Bachchan tried to explain Jaya's comment; director of the movie, Farah Khan too spoke about the incident during an interview.
She said, "Jayaji should definitely sue the publications because it is her name that is being maligned and she's getting the maximum flak from the statement. But its exactly what she had told us the night before, at SRK's birthday party."
She further adds, "She told me that she enjoyed the movie thoroughly. And she said it was after 'Amar Akbar Anthony'..she used these words...she said, 'its the most entertaining and nonsensically entertaining movie'...which I did not understand what she meant. But she compared it to 'Amar Akbar Antony' and I said I am taking it as a compliment. Because, I am sure when Amar Akbar Antony released, everyone must have said its a nonsensical movie. And now it's a classic. A cult, classic movie that we all refer to and say 'Amar Akbar Antony' is quintessential Bollywood. That's what she meant in her own way."
Farah also said that one needs to be careful with the kind of words they use, as it might harm anyone's sentiments, if reported in an inappropriate manner.
