Gautham Vasudev Menon, singer Chinmayi and actresses Samantha and Nithya Menon have won Nandi Awards, a coveted honour from the government of Andhra Pradesh, for their work in Telugu films in the year 2010.
While Gautham has been selected as best screenplay writer for 'Ye Maya Chesave' (Telugu version of 'Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya'), Samantha has been accorded with the Jury Award for the same film.Chinmayi was adjudged the best dubbing artiste for the movie.
Nithya Menon, who is popular in Tamil cinema with films like '180' and 'Veppam', is the best actress for her performance in 'Ala Modalaindi'. All winners have expressed happiness, while Chinmayi has written a long blog post on it.
"'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya' and 'Ye Maya Chesave' are definitely one of the best films in my dubbing career. I love working with Gautham sir. Learned a lot of things from him. Especially subtlety in dubbing," she said. "Before 'Vaaranam Ayiram' I was just plain scared of Gautham Menon. Had never been introduced to him before this film and I was always intimidated by him. I am super thankful that he chose me to be the voice of Sameera Reddy despite everything. And then the voice of Jessi," Chinmayi added.
