George Clooney says that he wanted Ryan Gosling to be voted People's Sexiest Man Alive.

The 50-year-old actor co-starred with Ryan on Ides of March and said last night that he was rooting for the hunky star to walk away with the coveted title that he once held.

George attended the premiere for his new movie The Descendants last night with girlfriend Stacy Keibler and gave his opinion on the hotly contested race.

"He Ryan really wants it. He's been saying the whole time we were on the set of Ides,' he was like, How did you pull that off?'" George joked to Extra TV.

"So I called up Brad Pitt and we worked with him for weeks on the walk we told him how to train everything."

But all the hard work was in vain because the title went to Bradley Cooper with Ryan a close runner up.

Bradley said that he's happy to have received the honour although he's not sure why people find him attractive.

"I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this title," he said. "I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."

Bradley does take the accolade seriously though. He's incredibly close to his mother Gloria and knew she'd be thrilled he'd topped the list.

"The first thing I thought was, 'My mother is going to be so happy,'" he laughed.
