(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Heidi Montag has blown "over a million" dollars since her claim to fame.

The 26-year-old The Hills reality TV star and her 29-year-old husband Spencer Pratt shot to fame during the programme's heyday.

Now Heidi and Spencer are counting pennies and living in his parents' house.

Heidi wishes that she would have been more cautious with her money.

"I've never really counted, so I'm not sure [how much we lost]. Over a million or so," she revealed to Access Hollywood.

"[I don't miss reality shows] I only miss the money. If we would have saved our money, it would have been better."

Spencer is currently pursuing a political science degree at the University of Southern California.

Heidi appreciates that his parents have allowed them to stay there while he studies.

"A lot of our expenses are minimised," she said.

Heidi underwent 10 plastic surgery procedures in one day in 2010.

The star admits that she lost control of herself when she was in the spotlight and is now taking it easy.

"We both just kind of stepped back and have been able to reflect on who we've been, where we want to go and who want to be and what we want in our lives," Heidi said. "And it wasn't the path we were going down. So we just kind of changed back to who we originally were." (C) Cover Media
