(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hugh Laurie has admitted that being grumpy is just the way he is.

The 51-year-old British actor stars as Dr. Gregory House in American television series House, named after the central character.

Hugh divulged that despite the fact that his character can be quite comical, the actor is rarely ever joyous and giddy in real life, even after drinking alcohol to help him to get more in the mood.

Im not naturally a cheerful person, Hugh told the British magazine Closer. I dont know why that is. Ive tried all sorts of remedies, like vodka which works, but not for very long.

Despite starting out life in the showbiz world as one half of a comedy duo - Fry and Laurie, which also featured British television personality Stephen Fry - Hugh also confessed that he rarely enjoys himself.

Because he films in Los Angeles, Hugh spends a lot of time away from his family his wife Jo and their three children who live in Britain, and he works too much to take advantage of the delights Hollywood has to offer.

My life in LA is just work. I dont surf, I dont rollerblade, I dont do yoga I just go to work, he complained. (C) Cover Media
