January 20, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Ranjith has been a highly lauded director, whose Malayalam movie in 2008, Thirakkatha, was loosely rooted in the life of the departed South Indian actress, Sreevidya. Now, sources have vocalized that the upcoming Malayalam movie, Naayika, is also anchored in the existence of Sreevidya. Naayika has been directed by Jayaraj. Thomas Benjamin is the producer of Naayika under the flag of Makayiram Creations. Naayika has, as its female protagonists, Madhu and Sharada, who are the actresses of yesteryear.
Naayika has been scripted by Deedi Damodaran, who had previously been the scriptwriter of Gulmohar, which had also been directed by Jayaraj. Naayika narrates the saga of a heroine of yesteryear, who vanishes behind the curtain of time. Jayaram as well as Sabitha Jayaraj and Jagathy will be present in the movie enacting supporting characters.
Ranjith had subsequently released a clarification that Thirakkatha was a film not anchored in the life of Sreevidya.
