Jackie Shroff to debut a Gujarati film

National award winner fame Rajesh Mapuskar's Marathi comedy-drama 'Ventilator' that featured Ashutosh Gowariker in the lead role is now being adapted in Gujarati. Moreover, the Gujarati version of this comedy flick will be directed by filmmakers Falguni Patel and Lawrence D'Souza. While the lead in this Gujarati film will be played by none other than Jackie Shroff.

It will be interesting to see how does Jackie fits in the shoes of Ashutosh Gowariker who was in the original one. Speaking about this, the 60-year-old actor said, "Finally, I have been cast in a film in my mother tongue. I hope I will live up to it."

Director of the film Umang Vyas, who is ready to helm the Gujarati version says, "We wanted someone who would understand the language and the culture. When we zeroed in on Jaggu, there was no looking further. He is a brilliant actor and immediately came onboard when we narrated the story idea to him. He is really fluent in Gujarati and will be playing a Hindi film actor in this one."

The film is down to its scripting stage and it is written by critically acclaimed scriptwriter Niren Bhatt, who has previously bagged National Award for thriller-drama 'Wrong Side'. The original film Ventilator's director Mapuskar will also be involved as a creative director for the Gujarati version. The film will go on floors in March revealed Umang Vyas.
