And once again, another Bollywood movie is picked for the Oscars. It's indeed a very happy feeling for all the filmmakers in B-Town to see themselves climb up the ladder to Hollywood.
After 'Barfi' and 'Delhi Safari', the next movie that goes to the Oscars is 'Jalpari'. Directed by Nila Madhab Panda, the movie has won the MIP Junior Kids Jury Award at Cannes and the Audience Choice Award in the Minsk International Film Festival in Belarus and now it has been submitted as a direct entry to the Oscars.
The movie is based on the problems a girl child encounters in rural India and it also talks about the divide between rural and urban India.
Sushil Kumar Agrawal who has produced the movie, was very excited about this news. Here is what he had to say, "About 17 Indian films are competing for India's official entry in the foreign film category, but unfortunately, only one film can go. Jalpari's original story and concept are the USP of the film. It has a blazing subject combined with powerful performances which makes it worthy of a direct entry for the Academy Awards,"
