Jennifer Aniston: Armour protects me

21st February 2012

Jennifer Aniston says her "protective armour" helps her deal with fame.

The actress has enjoyed considerable success since landing a role in the US television show Friends. She has now carved out a career in Hollywood and appeared in a string of romantic comedies.

Jennifer is currently promoting Wanderlust, which also stars Paul Rudd. In the movie, they play a couple who move to a remote commune to escape their hectic city lifestyle.

Jennifer loved spending time in Georgia while shooting the film as she felt truly relaxed away from the media glare.

"Every day, yes," she told Collider, when asked if she ever dreams of disappearing from the public spotlight. "For me, going to Clarksville and shooting this movie was a version of that because there was no paparazzi I really realised how much I had walled myself in, not consciously so, but just with this protective armour that I have. It's not for my friends or people in my family, but just being outside in the world, I'm always on guard.

"So, there was just this sigh of relief... I really made a conscious effort to remind myself, Don't wall up like that.' I think that you miss out on a lot of stuff when you're so protected and isolated."

Jennifer also spoke about being awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 43-year-old is thrilled to have been chosen and can't wait to attend the ceremony on Wednesday.

"Well, I'm extremely flattered, humbled, nervous and excited, all at the same time," she smiled. "It feels very surreal, to be honest. I was born here, and that's something that you went and saw as a kid. You were excited about just walking around and seeing the names. To imagine that you're going to be there is really special. It's fun."
